Show Me Woodturners is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the art of wood-turning.

Organized in 2004, we are now a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW), and have members from Arnold to DeSoto and down to Ste. Genevieve. Our membership has experience ranging from 30 years to members who don't even own a wood lathe as yet. The only requirement for membership is that you have an interest in woodturning.

Meeting Info:

Our club meets the second Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., currently at the Festus High School wood shop. Meetings consist of a short business meeting, (we are really a laid back group) a show and tell, where members are encouraged to bring in their turnings to share, followed by a turning demonstration given by one of our members.

We also have a “President’s Challenge” every other month to increase our turning abilities. The winner is chosen by the membership, who receives a gift certificate, and then decides what the next “Challenge” will be.

We are committed to advancing the art of woodturning. In that regard, we have given demonstrations at local High Schools and have had displays at two local libraries.

It is the desire of our club to assist each member to achieve their full potential. We help each other with tools, education and purchasing wood. (Although much wood is brought for members for free or little cost.) We recently received an Educational Opportunity Grant from the AAW to start our club library. This consists of many books and videos, on turning, which can be checked out by club members.
